For this project, we are taking the research from our FLIP group topic and turning it into a basic video animation. The focus is on translating information into a time-based visual format that is clear, engaging, and appropriate for a specific target audience. Rather than presenting our research through static text, this task challenges us to communicate ideas through motion, visuals, and structured design thinking as a team.

Using a processed design framework, we will produce an infographic-style video report. The purpose of the video depends on the nature of our chosen topic, but it must clearly fit into one of three categories: creating awareness, explaining a process, or defining a concept. Whether we are addressing an issue like global warming, demonstrating a “how-to” process, or defining a concept such as fast fashion or the color wheel, our goal is to ensure the information is both informative and visually engaging.

A key part of this project is how we organize and present information. We will apply organization principles such as LATCH (Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, and Hierarchy) to structure our content in a logical and easy-to-follow way. Alongside this, we will use aesthetic principles, particularly animation principles, to guide how elements move and transition on screen. Cognitive principles of visualization will also inform our decisions, helping us design visuals that support understanding without overwhelming the audience.

The output expectations require us to think critically about data visualization and storytelling. Our animation should clearly show causality by communicating cause-and-effect relationships. We are expected to use multivariate graphics and visuals, integrate words, numbers, and images effectively, and include multiple charts where appropriate. At the same time, we must avoid de-quantifying the information, ensuring that data remains accurate and meaningful. All content should remain within comfortable eyesight to maintain clarity and readability throughout the video.

For production, we are allowed to use any time-based media and software, working with photography and vector imagery to build the animation. The final output must be a full HD video at a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, with a duration of 1 to 2 minutes. This time constraint encourages us to be concise and intentional with our visuals, transitions, and overall pacing.

Overall, this group project is about transforming research into a clear and compelling visual narrative. By working collaboratively and combining strong information design, thoughtful animation, and clear communication, we aim to demonstrate how motion graphics can effectively inform, explain, and raise awareness for a target audience.
