TASK 4:
TASK 3: Typography Poster
For this assignment, I designed a typographic poster that highlighted the artistic and expressive qualities of typography. I used creative type design to present a chosen "Quote of the Day," combining different typeface families (mainly sans-serif) and distinct stylistic elements. This project allowed me to explore typography as a visual art form, utilizing Illustrator techniques and subtle graphic details to enhance the overall impact of the message.
Quote: I Dream of Those Days
Summary of design concept:
Visuals: A dreamy, surreal landscape blending elements of reality and fantasy. Ethereal colors like deep blues, purples, and hints of gold, creating a cosmic and mystical vibe.Wispy clouds and soft light emanating from a crescent moon in the background.I am aiming for the design to capture the wonder and creativity of dreams while intriguing the viewer to ponder the vastness of their own mind.
Sketches
Sketches are done on procreate app before deciding on which one would be the best choice .

FINAL DESIGN
Summary:
The poster symbolizes the power of dreams, hope, and imagination. At its core, it represents the
human longing for a future moment—a day when aspirations, desires, or inner peace will become
reality. It encourages viewers to cherish their dreams, believe in their potential, and patiently wait for the
day when those dreams will come true. It’s a message of hope, resilience, and the beauty of imagining a brighter future.
WEEK 5
Here are my exercise of inserting shazam image into a background
First I color match the shazam image with the background. Then I added noise to the image so it fits better to the background.
Then I added shadow, and added gaussian blur to the shadow.
and finally I added a reflection by copying the image of shazam and adjusting the hue and saturation to match with the water. then I added ripple effect.
Afetr mastering the technique with the shazam exercise, I tried to input my own photo into the background as instructed
Here is the photo I took and decided to use for the task.
After that I followed the same steps as I have already done on the shazam exercise.
The result is as follows. What I noticed from the result with my own photo is that it is slightly different with the exercise, which is probably due to the color scheme difference on the reference image. On the shazam one, the outfit is very saturated and easier to notice a difference during color balancing. While on my own photo, I am wearing a more monochrome color which affects how the result looked, making it seem very desaturated and having to contrast in colors.
WEEK 4
WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION)
DESCRIPTION:
For the first attempt, i have already accidentally implemented the usage of clipping mask as seen on the building, so that it is inside the cut out circle shape of the background. However, i have not yet understood that it could been useful to adjust the color balance aspect as well.
WEEK 4 (ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS )
DESCRIPTION:
For this attempt, I have used the clipping mask on multiple layers to adjust various aspects of the images one by one. It is done in a way that I could come bback to the layers again to change parts of it without having to rasterize any of the layers. I learned a more convenient way to adjust colors and make it more editable for future use.
WEEK 3
As the pre compositions were not yet glued on, we could still choose and identify my collage's design elements that were cut out and re compose it again during today's class
2. PRE-COMPOSITION #2
below is a second composition I did before class
3. PRE-COMPOSITION #3
This was the most recent and ended up being chosen as the final option for the task
Updated:
after receiving feedback, this is how the composition look like. I was told that to avoid infringement of copyright by the photographer, it is important to change aspect of the object and subject photo. For example here the person was the main focus of the composition and nothing was on top of it. It was suggested that there should be something covering his face to avoid copyright.
additionally, to make the flow of the theme better, I added another hand to create a thematic effect on the entire composition.
WEEK 2
In class, we are assigned to do out task with the collage. We are able to utilize the class time to start working on it by cutting the magazines and other materials that we prepared beforehand
I only managed to finish one composition during class
The artist of this piece, Joe Cruz, has illustrated this piece with the distinct technique of using photography and sketching with oil-based pastels on top of them. I think this is a simple yet interesting method as it makes the already captivating photo pop even more with only three bold colors.
Design #2:
Description:
The artist Maya Land has a surreal collage arti theme. She uses old imagery to meticulously craft each piece by hand as it appears to be cut out images from multiple media mashed into one unique piece. Her works have an air of nostalgia for the past due to the choices of color pallete.
Design #3:
Description:
This piece is the cover for the book “The Memory Police”. Unfortunately i have not found the artist behind it. It instantly captures my attention with its eerie theme with the blurry picture of the unidentified woman covered in pieces of what seems to be paper, scribbled with a sketch on the original photo. The pasted on scribbles appears like a composite sketch, which really encapsulate the title of “memory police”. Like the police trying to memorize the face of a person with a sketch.
In this project, we are going to finalize our idea, compiling it into a set of information and data. For the final project, we are all tasked to create a tiktok account that holds all of the research and output of our task. The tiktok account that we are posting them in will be a compilation of videos based on our work that we have worked on for the task within the semester. As our main topic is about the everyday design, we as a group have decided to pick the main focus of traffic signs in Indonesia as a point of interest. We emphasized how traffic is so prevalent not only in Indonesia, but throughout various densely populated countries like Malaysia as well, that it has became a culture of its own. Bad driving habits has contributed to the horrible traffic across the countries that it has turned into an everyday culture. As a group, we decided to tackle one of the sign that has contributed to the horrible congestion and bad driving culture, which is the “belok kiri jalan terus” ...
